Memorials and their gardens are about the 'preciousness of place'. Much precedent exists: burial or cremation has always happened on sacred hills, in sacred churches or on the banks of sacred rivers. We can at once see connections with nature and the seasonal cycles. The proposal illustrated here sites its gardens and structures along the line of the 'meridian'. This meridian is the one that passes through Greenwich in South London, the lines that circles the world and defines Greenwich Mean Time. Actual articulation is left non-specific, but the proviso that all memorial sites should interact with this line is established.
